A good query is essential for getting the representation of a literary agent. Agents typically spend mere seconds reading each of the many queries they receive, so you'll want to make sure yours catches their attention.
Almost all agents request that your query include a letter, a full synopsis of your story, and a first chapter. Depending on your needs, I can offer proofreading and coaching to make sure you're effectively pitching your story to agents.

When I was a literary agent's assistant, it was part of my job to read dozens of query letters a day. My responsibility was to make that initial "yay or nay" decision. Nearly all of the romance and fantasy writers represented by the agency were discovered through the slush pile, so I know exactly what makes a query letter compelling.
Please note this service is for fiction queries only (not poetry or nonfiction).
Query Letter Package, $30
In the query letter package, I'll provide two rounds of editing on your query letter. The first round will focus on the content and style of your letter: Does it hook the reader? Does it include all necessary information? Which parts could be clearer, and how? The second round will include comprehensive proofreading to ensure your letter is free of spelling, grammar, and mechanical errors.
Query Letter and Synopsis Package, $60
In addition to providing feedback on your query letter, I can read your synopsis to make sure you're telling a clear, attention-grabbing story from start to end.
This service includes two rounds of comprehensive editing. The first round focuses on actionable feedback for improving the content of your letter and synopsis. The second round includes proofreading to ensure that your work is error-free before it lands in front of your future agent.
Query Letter, Synopsis, and First Chapter Package, $95
In addition to providing feedback on your query letter and synopsis, I can copyedit your first chapter, making sure it's free of spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors and checking for internal inconsistencies.
Finally, most major storytelling issues pop up within the start of a novel. I will offer limited developmental edits on your first chapter, up to 5,000 words. This is a great affordable alternative to full developmental edits, offering you insight into your manuscript's strength and growth areas. I'll include feedback to help you make sure that the start of your story delivers the plot, character development, and internal momentum it needs to get noticed.
